Fishing Points also gives you access to tide data from stations near your fishing location, allowing you to choose and see tide data from different tide stations.
How to choose a specific Tide station
If you want to select data from a particular tide station:
- Open Tides in your menu
- Tap the location marker symbol in the top-right corner
- The app will display tide stations in your vicinity (if available)
- Tap on your preferred station to select it
- The tide data will update to reflect information from your chosen tide station
Multiple Tide stations explained
When several tide stations are available in your area:
- By default, Fishing Points displays data from the closest tide station to your selected location
- This automatic selection ensures you're getting the most relevant tide information
- However, you can manually choose a different station if needed (using the steps above)
When to select a different Tide station?
You might want to select a specific tide station when:
- You're fishing in an area with unique tidal patterns
- You know from experience that a particular station better represents your fishing area
- You're planning to fish in a location between multiple tide stations
- You want to compare tide data from different stations
Tide station data accuracy
Tide stations provide highly accurate measurements, but keep in mind:
- Local geographic features can affect how tides behave in specific locations
- Weather conditions like strong winds can influence actual tide heights
- Stations measure at specific points, and conditions may vary slightly in nearby areas
- For critical tide-dependent activities, always use tide data in combination with local knowledge
