What are Artificial reefs?
Artificial reefs are man-made structures placed in sea water to mimic natural reefs. They boost marine biodiversity by providing new habitats for fish and other sea creatures. They also impact fishing by creating productive areas for anglers.
What are Fish attractors?
Fish attractors are man-made underwater structures—like sunken trees, pipes, or concrete blocks—placed into freshwater bodies to mimic natural habitats and shelter fish. They improve fishing opportunities by drawing in fish species that seek cover, making them easier to locate and catch.
What are Fish aggregating devices (FADs)?
Fish Aggregating Devices are floating or anchored structures used to attract pelagic fish like tuna and mahi-mahi. These devices create shade and shelter in open waters, encouraging fish to gather underneath them. FADs are widely used to support sustainable offshore fishing and improve catch rates.
