Major and Minor Times are periods during the day when fish feeding activity typically increases.
Major Times are the prime fishing periods when fish are most likely to feed actively. Minor Times are the second best periods of increased fish activity - shorter than Major Times, but still favourable for fishing.
How to find Major and Minor Times in Fishing Points
The app displays these key fishing periods in the Fish Activity forecast:
- Select Fish Activity from the menu
- Look for the highlighted time blocks in your daily forecast (simply click on the chart or on Major/Minor times to highlight these periods)
- Major Times appear as longer, more prominent blocks
- Minor Times show as shorter periods
- Each time block shows the exact start and end times
Why These Times Matter
During Major and Minor Times, the gravitational pull from the moon's position creates subtle changes in water and wildlife behavior. Fish often respond by becoming more active and feeding more aggressively. Many seasoned anglers have learned to trust these intervals, especially when other conditions like weather and tide are also favorable.
By understanding and using these time windows, you can focus your fishing efforts during periods when fish are naturally more active and likely to bite.
